Man of the People - Gurmad's Preferred Presidential Characteristics:

The Somali people agree with the importance that character plays in the job performance of the President. Considering all of the hats that a President must wear, perhaps the symbolic role that the President plays is the most affected by character. President must be able to symbolize what Somali citizens believe to be the essence of their country, more importantly; the president must be a visionary with leadership qualities to lead Somalia to a brighter future.

The GURMAD party for Somalia (GPS) is seeking a candidate who embodies the following characteristics:

  • A holder of a strong vision for the country’s future.
  • An aspiring leader for all Somali people and does not show favoritism towards a specific person or group of people.
  • A wise leader with the ability to view the big picture rather than a narrow focus on a single issue.
  • A unifier with the ability to unify the country and to work with both houses of congress, and federal member states.
  • A visionary leader highly committed to accountability and transparency vigorously pursuing results that directly benefit the Somali people.
  • A dedicated leader who able to put the interest of the country beyond any other interest.
  • A bridge-builder capable of bringing different interests across that land together to effectively manage crises and conflicts.
  • A leader with a deep knowledge of and interest in domestic and foreign policy.
  • An articulate leader and communicator with a great deal of charisma and a positive attitude.
  • A courageous leader who can make unpopular decisions, when necessary.
